LETR Spotlight

Inspector Cedric Rembert
WI State Patrol District 2

Inspector Cedric Rembert is a leader. Whether he is protecting the citizens of Waukesha or organizing meetings for the World’s Largest Truck Convoy® for Special Olympics Wisconsin, Rembert is an important asset to any team. Since 2004, this Wisconsin State Patrol Inspector has participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR), from running or biking the Madison to Stevens Point Final Leg, or attending Opening Ceremonies. He first got involved in the Torch Run as a member of the Wisconsin Troopers Association, when he was asked to represent the Wisconsin State Patrol’s Southeast Region.

Rembert has also been responsible for coordinating his department’s involvement in the Convoy, from arranging meetings to handling the organization of State Patrol officers. Longtime colleague and friend, Trooper Kimberly Hurley, explains that, “The reason he participates is strictly for the athletes, and never for any personal accolades. He is a true leader, and always wants to do what he can for special Olympic athletes.”

Inspector Rembert sees the Convoy as the perfect opportunity for his department to get involved with the community in a positive way, and also as a terrific way to raise money for the Special Olympics athletes. “It shows that no matter who you are or what you are doing for a living that truckers, law enforcement, athletes, and families can come together to celebrate a special event and have a good time with each other. It is never about the truckers, officers or me. It is about the athletes and their families and making sure that they have the best time of their life, even if it is just for one day,” Rembert says.

Rembert participates year after year because he knows he is doing a good thing for people who really appreciate it. Special Olympics Wisconsin would like to personally thank Inspector Rembert for his unwavering commitment and encouraging attitude as he continues to support more than 10,000 athletes. Thank you Inspector Rembert!
