Join us Wednesday, August 31 for a Pre-Event Celebration!

We will be holding a promotional event on Wednesday, August 31 from 11:30am-1:30pm at The City Center at 735, near the Riverwalk, west of Mason and Water. There will be a 25-foot rock climbing wall, chips & queso courtesy of Qdoba, meet & greet with Special Olympics athletes, an opportunity to learn more about Over the Edge, and more!

Ten Great Ideas to Reach $1,500

  1. Anyone is a potential donor - friends, family, classmates, co-workers, neighbors, doctors, mechanics, lawyers, stylists, etc. Tell your donors why you're supporting Special Olympics Wisconsin.

  2. Ask businesses you frequent to sell icons on your behalf - if 15 businesses sold 100 icons for $1.00 apiece, you'd hit your $1,500 quickly! Contact the Special Olympics Milwaukee region office for icons.

  3. Ask your boss if you can have a jeans day in the office. Anyone who participates can donate $10 or $20 and get a casual day.

  4. Aim high - ask for $50 and settle for $25 instead of asking for $25 and getting $10.

  5. Check with your company and your donor's company to see if they have a matching program. Many of them do for non-profit organizations. This is an easy way to double your donations!

  6. If you're making phone calls to friends or relatives and they agree to support you, you don't have to wait for a check - direct them to our website to make a payment with a credit card on the spot.

  7. Include a link to your donation page in your email signature and any social media pages you have – people will donate if you can make it easy for them.

  8. Send a reminder. While someone may have put your e-mail aside with the intention of giving you a donation, they might need to be reminded that the event is quickly approaching and you need their help!

  9. Let people know where you are at. If they hear you are so close to reaching your goal, they may be more inclined to help you reach it.

  10. Don't forget about your coworkers. Hang up something up in the break room or send an email around the office.
Remember: Every contribution is 100 percent tax-deductible!
